Spanish La Liga’s president, Javier Tebas has stated that Girona’s home match is ‘83% likely’ to be played in Miami because he has not received any document from relevant football bodies concerned stating otherwise.
The match has caused lots of controversies around the footballing world due to its proposed venue. Miami’s Hard Rock stadium is the proposed venue for the match, which has brought about criticisms and opposition from the Spanish Players’ Union, the Spanish FA as well as FIFA, with the Spanish Players’ Union floating the possibility of a strike action should the game go on.
Meanwhile, La Liga has taken out extensive adverts in the influential Miami Herald, including its front page to campaign for the city to host the January 27th mini-Catalan derby.
