Film producer Kunle Afolayan to adapt Ngugi Wa Thiong ‘o’s remarkable novel into a film alongside Kenyan and South African filmmakers.

Although the co-producers are yet to be disclosed, He revealed the news on the sidelines of the African Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) that took place in Kigali, Rwanda.

He said the novel ‘Matigari’, written in 1987 tells the moral and political tale of Matigari, the protagonist and freedom fighter who emerges from the bush in the political dawn of post-independence Kenya in search of his family and a new future.

He soon discovered that nothing has changed. The book examines various themes, which include oppression, and exploitation, inequality, and betrayal.
