11 die to heavy floods in tanzania

The Local Government in Mali has reported at least 14 people dead by floods due to heavy rains in recent days on Friday.

The precipitations also caused 41 wounded, 5,300 houses destroyed and in general, more than 70,000 victims, adds a provisional balance of the Services of Civil Protection (SPC).

The damages also include the loss of 62.58 tons of agrifood items, and damage to crops, livestock, wells and latrines in many regions of the country, according to the source.

The most affected areas include the capital district of Bamako and some deserted northern areas where rainfall is generally weak.

Part of the damage was caused by the overflow of the Selingeé dam, 140 kilometres south of Bamako, although meteorological services announced the possibility of a large amount of rain in early winter, the Civil Protection report said.
