Ten-Year-Old Boy Rescues Mother, Cousin from Shack Fire

A ten-year-old rescued his mother and two-year-old cousin from a shack fire in Cape Town, South Africa.

But time didn’t permit as his infant Nephew was engulfed in the blaze which also left 70 people homeless.

Reports show that Aphelele Ntsukumbini, a grade 4 Sophakama Primary School pupil was sleeping in the same bed as his mother, cousin and nephew, only to wake up to find the house ablaze.

He intuitively dashed with his little cousin and took him to safety and returned to find his mother lying on the floor, flames licking her right arm. He was able to drag her out just before the fire devoured the shack.

Interviewing his mother, Nondingazi Ntsukumbini expressed her joy as she was still deep asleep when the fire broke into their home and she would have lost her life and the entire family if not for her son.

The young chap, however, was sad as he didn’t have the opportunity to save his little nephew, who was just one year and eight months old.
