At Least five people have been killed in fresh attacks in Adamawa State, north-eastern, Nigeria.

The victims were indigenes of Bali village in Demsa Local Government Area of the state.

Spokesman of the Adamawa Police Command, Othman Abubakar, confirming the incident said suspected ethnic militia allegedly ambushed the travellers along Numan-Kpasham road to Taraba State.

He said four other victims survived the attack with injuries and have been taken to a hospital.

Mr Abubakar has called for calm and pleaded against all forms of reprisal attacks, adding that the Police had commenced an investigation into the incident.

Following a series of attacks in the area, travellers have abandoned the Numan-Kpasham-Jalingo road for a long time now.
