FG announces Dec 31, 2019 for review of Privatised Discos

The Federal Government of Nigeria over the weekend, announced December 31, 2019, as the date for a final performance review of the privatized electricity Distribution Companies.

This is according to the management of the Bureau of Public Enterprises in Abuja.

The announcement became imperative because of the interest shown by various stakeholders in the electricity industry regarding the date for final review of DISCOs’ performance.

Director-General of BPE, Alex  Okoh noted that the five-year performance agreement for all DISCOs with the exception of Kaduna DISCO, became effective on January 1, 2015, adding that the fifth year anniversary for final performance review would, therefore, be December 31, 2019.

Bar: Contributory Pension assets rises to N8.31Trn

The total assets under the Contributory Pension Scheme has risen by N100bn from N8.23tn in June this year to N8.33tn at the end of August 2018.

That’s according to the acting Director-General, National Pension Commission,  Aisha Dahir-Umar,  at a retreat organized by the Pension Funds Operators Association of Nigeria for the Senate and House of Representatives Joint Committee on Establishment and Public Service, and Pension, in Calabar, Cross River State.

She noted that it is now 14 years since the introduction of the CPS,  the number of retirees receiving benefits under the CPS as of August 2018 was 245,657. Out of that number, 189,308 retirees are on programmed withdrawal and 56,349 have opted for annuity. In the same vein, death benefits had been paid to 52,468 beneficiaries.”
