The Russian president, Vladimir Putin met with UFC lightweight champion, Khabib Nurmagomedov, his father and coach in Ulyanovsk, just days after his victory over Conor McGregor.
The Russian apologised to President Putin for his violent post-match actions, blaming it on McGregor’s insult to his father and country.
Putin congratulated him for his win, “you won worthily and convincingly”, before admonishing him on temperaments and reactions from a fellow Russian or a foreigner,
In a family anything can happen but we never allow ourselves to go beyond certain limits, but if they attack us from the outside, of course, not just you – all of us can jump in such a way, they won’t know what hit them. It’s better not to take things so far”.
