Gareth Southgate has signed a new improved two-year contract, thereby extending his stay as the Three Lions boss until the end of the 2022 World Cup.
The Englishman’s previous deal was to expire at the end of the Euro 2020 Championship but having led the Three Lions to an impressive World Cup semi-finals, the first in 28 years, there were calls from virtually all quarters to extend his contract.
The new contract will see his salary leapfrog to a reported £3m per annum. Gareth Southgate’s assistant, Steve Holland also agreed on a new contract with the FA till 2022.
