The Managing Director of the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency, NAMA, Captain Fola Akinkuotu has advised stakeholders in the oil and gas sector to commence the production of aviation fuel locally.
This would be in line with the Nigerian content development initiative of the Federal Government.
According to Akinkuotu, the high cost of aviation fuel accounts for over 30% of the domestic carriers operational costs.
He also spoke on the epileptic supply of the product which results to flight disruptions. In his view, local production and supply will regularise supply, reduce cost, which will translate to lower airfares by airlines.
