World Number one Justin Rose has the upper hand in the race for the FedEx Cup title after ending the first round of the Tour Championship which is the last of four FedEx Cup play-offs one shot off leaders Rickie Fowler and Tiger Woods.

The-38-year-old is second in the standings behind Bryson DeChambeau and is playing his first tournament since becoming world number one.

Rose made three birdies and one bogey on both the front and back nine on Thursday.

Fourteen-time major winner Tiger Woods entered into the week with a small chance of winning his third FedEx Cup as he was sitting in 20th in the standings.

However, the 42-year-old reminded us of what he is capable of with a stunning five-under round of 65.
