Popular Nigerian filmmaker and actor, Kunle Afolayan, who made the headlines by allegedly saying “he does not watch Nollywood Movies”, refuted the claims saying his reaction was drawn to the report, and urged his fans to disregard the report, as the work of a mischief maker who is seeking cheap publicity and affect his relationship between him and the public.
He further stated that the report lacks credibility as he said in the interview that he lets his kids watch it but only spoke about the bad subtitling of most Nollywood movies, as he cares about the subtitling of Nollywood movies unlike some, who cannot be bothered.
He referred to himself as an avid supporter and promoter of the Nigerian brand, he further claims that he also stated that he watches movies that challenge his creative endeavour, and this is in order with anyone who aspires for greatness.
In conclusion, he pleads with his fans to disregard that which tends to bring disaffection among practitioners working hard to take the Nollywood industry to a greater height.
