Celia Barquin murdered on Golf Course!

Spanish golfer, Celia Barquin Arozamena, who won the European Ladies’ Amateur Championship in July has been found dead on an Iowa golf course.

Golfers at the Coldwater Golf Links in Ames noticed a golf bag on the course which was unattended and later found her corpse a short distance away.

Police in Iowa disclosed that Barquin died following an assault.

According to the Iowa State University where she is a leading student-athlete, the 22 years old golfer was due to complete her degree in civil engineering this semester.

During her time in the States, she won the 2018 Big 12 university championship and was named Iowa State Female Athlete of the Year, thereby rising to prominence.

Her amateur golf career peaked when she won the European Ladies Amateur Championships with a course record 63 en route a one-shot victory.

Reactions have trailed her death, as the Royal Spanish Golf Federation, the Iowa State University’s athletics director among others have poured in their tributes, revealing her cheerful personality and work ethic.

She will be honoured at a university football game on Saturday.

Meanwhile, the police have charged a certain Collin Daniel Richards for the murder.
