The US Government says it projects that it will be receiving about 310,000 refugees and asylum seekers in 2019. US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said the US will be resettling about 30,000 refugees under the new refugee upper limit, and at least 280,000 asylum seekers. Pompeo said these would join the more than 800,000 asylum seekers already in the country and are expecting the resolution of their claims. He described the US as the most openhanded nation in the world.
