A memorial service has been held for three South African firefighters, who died last week while battling a blaze in Johannesburg’s Central Business District-CBD.
Hundreds of firefighters paid tribute to the fallen heroes, Mduduzi Ndlovu, Khathutshelo Muedi, and Simphiwe Moropane, outside the bank of Lisbon Building in the Johannesburg CBD on Wednesday morning.
Also present were the mayor of Johannesburg, Herman Mashaba, emergency services, Johannesburg Metro Police, family, and friends.
Mr. Moropana fell from the block while fighting the fire in the government building.
Mr. Ndlovu and Mr. Muedi became trapped in the building.
