Tanzania’s female lawmakers have been banned from entering parliament with artificial nails and false eyelashes.
A Citizen Tanzania newspaper quotes Speaker of Parliament, Job Ndugai, as making the announcement saying the decision became necessary after Deputy Health Minister, Faustine Ndugulile, raised concerns about the health risks posed by both cosmetic trends.
Lawmakers are also prohibited from wearing short dresses and jeans to parliament.
The ban also applies to visitors to parliament.
