Bayelsa sets up response team to mitigate Flood disaster

The State government’s response team is to mitigate the flooding of communities in Bayelsa, which houses the lower basin of the River Niger.
The team has been given the mandate to visit and check all flood-prone areas in order to make adequate preparations for a timely response should a case of flooding occur.
The state commissioner for information, Mr. Daniel Iworito-Markson, assured that the residents have no cause to panic as the government is taking proactive steps to secure their lives and property.
He also stated that a call centre had been set up with dedicated phone lines to enable residents make emergency calls to report any case of flooding as it occurs.

All residents are to note that the call centre would be available to receive their calls 24/7 in order to tackle issues of flooding as they occur, to prevent a repeat of the natural disaster that happened 6 years ago.
