History is all up for grabs as Serena Williams and Naomi Osaka battle for the US Open title tonight – Serena is looking to match Margaret Court’s slam record of 24 while Naomi Osaka, who already holds the record of being the first Japanese woman to reach a grand slam final, will be hoping to be the first Japanese woman to win a grand slam.
Apart from the history on the line, a prize money of $3.8m is on the line for the singles winner as well as bragging rights. This is definitely a matchup involving two generations and may just be the passing of the torch.
