A Sudanese mediator has revealed that rebel leader, Riek Machar has on Tuesday declined to sign a final peace deal with the government that is aimed at ending the brutal civil war.
According to Al-Dierdiry Ahmed, Sudanese Foreign Minister, “the main South Sudanese opposition groups, including the SPLM-IO of Machar faction, refused to sign the final document demanding that their reservations be guaranteed in it”.
Weeks of talks have been held in Khartoum by the warring parties to reach a comprehensive peace deal to end the conflict in the country but all to no avail.
The conflict in South Sudan has killed tens of thousands of people and displaced millions since it broke out in December of 2013.
