South Africa will today, August 27, play host for the first time since 2011 to a sitting UK Prime Minister.

Theresa May will be meeting with President Cyril Ramaphosa in a bid to strengthen trade and investment relations between the two countries.

Both leaders had earlier met in April and June during the Commonwealth Heads of Governments Meeting in London and then at the G7 in Canada respectively.

As a sign of goodwill, May is expected to present President Ramaphosa with the bell from SS Mendi –which suffered one of the worst maritime disasters in the 20th century in UK waters- It was found in the English Channel a year ago.
