Invitations were sent to Mugabe for Mnangagwa’s inauguration but it wasn’t honoured personally by Mugabe who claimed to be unavoidably absent saying he was out to Singapore with his wife for medical attention.
He rather sent his daughter to take his place at the inauguration ceremony which has been viewed as a childish act by war veterans who view it as insufficient to amend his wrongdoings.
The spokesperson for the war veterans insisted that Mugabe has to first denounce his affiliation with the MDC Alliance publicly, an opposition party he endorsed on the eve of the general elections, as it is an unforgivable act for freedom fighters to join the side of the enemy.
