Thousands of Nigerians who have performed this year’s Hajj pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia, are now waiting to be airlifted back to the country.
The pilgrims concluded the rites on the Day of Arafat, following the symbolic stoning of the Devil.
The pilgrims are appealing to the Nigerian Hajj Commission to start the return journey to enable pilgrims to reunite with their loved ones.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria, the heads of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) were preparing for this exercise on Friday when the commission held a general meeting with its Hajj personnel in Mecca.
The flights from Saudi Arabia back to Nigeria are slated to begin August 29, and according to the commission’s Chairman, Alhaji Abdullahi Mukhtar, the return trip could begin with any of the airlines.
