A few hours ago Nigerian Acting President, Yemi Osinbajo, was at the scene of a building that collapsed in Jabi, in the Federal Capital Territory.
The building is an uncompleted multi-storeyed shopping complex.
Reports say at least one person was killed, and not less than 10 others are trapped; this includes children.
Eyewitness reports say most of those who are trapped were squatting in the building.
Another observer claimed that a phone call had been made by one of the trapped persons to a friend, begging for help; with reports of four persons having been rescued by onlookers before the authorities arrived to begin the official rescue effort.
The observers said that of those rescued, one had died, while another had a broken leg. They claimed that they were, however, able to take them to the hospital.
Meanwhile, friends and relatives have been calling on loved ones in the FCT to mark themselves safe on social media.
