Xuecheng, who is a member of the Communist Party, CP,  and the Beijing Longquan Monastery’s abbot, is now facing allegations in China’s increasing #MeToo movement.
Following a  report that went viral online late last in July, it was found that he had been accused by two monks of sending suggestive messages to some women.
He had threatened or tried to persuade them to have sexual intercourse with him, which he claimed was part of their Buddhist education.
The Buddhist Association of China, Buddhism’s top authority,  started investigations as soon as the allegations became public.
