A statement from Greater Manchester Police said the first call reporting gunshots on Claremont Road, in the inner-city Moss Side neighborhood, was received at 2:30 a.m.

Manchester Police have reported that at least 10 people are in the hospital after a shooting in Manchester early on Sunday.

Those being treated in hospital are suffering from a range of minor and major injuries, the statement added, making no mention of the victims’ ages.

Community ambassador Kemoy Walker said it was a shock to wake up to the news as the atmosphere had been very positive on Saturday (August 11) during the city’s Caribbean Carnival.
