The State Department says that it is increasing the reward for anyone with relevant information that could lead to the arrest of two men wanted in connection with the 1998 US embassy bombings in Nairobi and Dar es Salaam.

The amount to be rewarded for information on Abdullah Ahmed Abdullah and Sayf al-Adl is increased from $5 million to $10 million.

Both men are Egyptians about 50 years of age now. They are both wanted by the FBI for allegedly helping plan and execute the attacks that left 212 East Africans and 12 Americans dead and scores injured.

One of the wanted men, Sayf al-Adl is a former colonel in the Egyptian army. He is said to be an explosives expert and a member of al-Qaeda’s military committee.

And the other, Abdullah Ahmed Abdullah is alleged to have operated an Al-Qaeda training camp in Afghanistan before the embassy attacks that were carried out by the terrorist organisation headed by Osama bin Laden at the time.

20 years down the line, nine individuals have been convicted in the US on charges related to the two bombings.
