Director of the Somali National Intelligence and Security Agency in Bay region, Mohamed Aflow has on Friday confirmed to the Somali Red Crescent Society workers that 5 Aid workers have been kidnapped by Suspected Al-Shabaab militants in southern Somalia in a series of abduction in the Country.

Aflow informed journalists in the capital of Bay region, that the aid workers were distributing nutrition supplies in Busle village, which is on the outskirts of Baidoa when the militants kidnapped them.

He, however, said efforts are already underway to secure their release. Even though there are speculations that it is an Al- Shabaab attack, no group has claimed responsibility for the kidnapping of the aid workers.

Al- Shabab has in the past targeted aid workers, and in some cases demanded a ransom before the release of aid workers taken hostage.
