Nine people have been gunned down by suspected militiamen in Tse Ujoh village of Ikyurav-Tiev local government area in Benue State.
The police spokesman in the state, DSP Moses Yamu confirmed incident to journalists. eyewitnesses have estimated the figure of those killed to be 12.
The attackers were said to have stormed the community in a commando manner shooting sporadically leading to the death of eight persons on the spot.
The eyewitness further said four others died at an undisclosed hospital where they were taken for treatment.
The state governor, Samuel Ortom has described as unacceptable, the latest attack. The governor who spoke through his Chief Press Secretary, Terver Akase said troops have been deployed to the affected area to forestall further attacks.
