The death has been announced of the former Governor of Gombe State, Abubakar Habu Hashidu.
A family source said Hashidu died of Alzheimer’s disease on Friday morning at his home in Gombe at the age of 74. He has since been buried according to Islamic rights.
Hashidu was governor of Gombe state under the platform of the All Peoples Party –APP from May 1999 to May 2003.
He had served previously as Minister of Water Resources as well as a Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development under the military regime of Ibrahim Babangida.
