Uganda’s President, Yoweri Museveni has been cleared to run for a sixth term in office should he choose to after the country’s Constitutional Court approved scrapping the presidential age limit of 75.
Mr Museveni who has been in power since 1986 is already 73. Although it is not clear if he will seek re-election in 2021, one of the judges reportedly said the citizens still had the power to vote him out.
There was formerly a limit of two five-year presidential terms but this was removed by parliament in 2005.
