A Brazilian surgeon Denis Furtado popularly known as Dr Bumbum who works mostly for celebrities for buttock-enhancement has been arrested over the death of a patient in a botched operation.
He evaded arrest for four days. He usually performs these operations at his home in Brazil. He was arrested in Rio.
After a tip-off from an anonymous caller, the police swung into action and arrested the fugitive.
His mother who is allegedly his accomplice was not spared as well. After the death of a bank employee named Lilian Quezia Calixto who died after undergoing a bum enlargement procedure at Dr BumBum‘s apartment in the upmarket Barra de Tijuca neighbourhood of Rio.
According to reports she underwent the procedure on Saturday, and started feeling sick shortly after the surgery, she later died in the hospital on Sunday from a racing heartbeat, hypertension and four heart attacks.
According to the Brazilian Plastic Surgery Society, any knowledge of Furtado is unknown to them, saying the likes of non-specialists like Denis has provoked more and more fatalities like this.
