Ekiti Assembly rejects Election Result

Ekiti State House of Assembly has condemned and rejected the outcome of Saturday’s governorship election which produced Kayode Fayemi of the All Progressives Congress as governor.

The house also adjourned legislative business until October 8, citing issues of harassment and insecurity, Speaker of the Assembly, Kola Oluwawole, described the election as a show of shame, with thugs and security agents allegedly openly working for the APC.

Mr Akinyele Olatunji the House leader of the house said the adjournment was “the adjournment became necessary due to the political harassment of members by security agents.

The Ekiti state election was conducted over the weekend with the candidate of the ruling party APC, Kayode Fayemi emerging victorious, while his main contender Kolapo Eleka, PDP has since then rejected the election results.
