The European Union Ambassador to Nigeria Mr Ketil Karlsen who is leading a group of international observers in monitoring the Ekiti state governorship election says the exercise is a stepping stone on the road to the 2019 general elections.
Mr Karlsen who spoke to journalists in Ifaki-Ekiti said the EU wants to see a continued consolidation of democracy in Nigeria.
According to him, the international community does not have any preferred candidate, or any preferred party or ideology but remains committed to the democratic will of the people.
