A new deal signed at State House, Nairobi on Monday between Kenya and Switzerland would enhance an already existing Memorandum of Understanding on the return of proceeds of graft stashed in Switzerland.

The President of the Swiss Confederation, Alain Berset, after the signing, affirms once more that the agreement will expedite the recovery of proceeds all of the crime kept in his home country.

“I’m extremely pleased that we’ve signed this framework. This framework will allow Switzerland to return financial assets that have been blocked for example in the Anglo-Leasing case,” Berset said during a joint media briefing after signing of the pact.

President Uhuru Kenyatta on his part praised the Swiss leader, saying he was confident the deal will help his government’s commitment to rooting out corruption in Kenya.
