Members of the House of Representatives, have set up an ad-hoc committee to investigate loot recovered from the late General Sani Abacha, Nigeria’s former military dictator.
This decision was reached as a result of a resolution at plenary which followed a motion by a member from Kogi State, Sunday Karimi.
It came under matters of public importance and titled; ‘Urgent Need To Stop The Federal Government From expending The Last Tranche Of The Abacha Loot Or Any Recovered Loot At All Without Parliamentary Approval.’
The ad-hoc committee would be looking into all recoveries made, mode of payments and how the monies were disbursed. They are to report back to the House n the next six weeks.
