It’s official, Germany finish bottom of Group F and has been knocked out of the Russia 2018 world cup. They were the defending champions but struggled so far in their games in Group F.
Germany lost their last group match to South Korea (2-0) who have already been knocked out of the tournament. The German machines needed a win against South Korea but were unable to unlock the South Korean defence and in the other game, Sweden got the job done by defeating Mexico by 3 goals to nil to ensure qualification.
Jesus Gallardo of Mexico picked up the fastest card of the tournament when he crashed into the back of Ola Toivonen after just 15 seconds and received a yellow. It was the quickest booking since cards were introduced at the 1970 edition of the tournament, held in Gallardo’s homeland.
