2020 Budget: FEC Meeting postponed to Monday, October 7

Deputy Senate Leader, Bala Ibn Na’Allah; and the Chief Whip of the House of Representatives, Alhassan Ado-Doguwa, who represented their respective chambers at the signing of the 2018 Budget, earlier today, have said the lawmakers are not worried by President Muhammadu Buhari’s observation on the alteration done on the budget.

The lawmakers, who spoke to State House correspondents after the signing of the budget, stated that they were doing their jobs as parliamentarians.

No, we are not worried. The job of parliamentarians is a very difficult one. The way the budget came, if we had allowed it to go that way, we would have been in trouble with those who elected us, Sen Na’Allah said.

Recall that President Buhari had earlier condemned the lawmakers for their unnecessary increment to the budget, making cuts amounting to N347 billion in the allocations to 4,700 projects he submitted for consideration, and introducing 6,403 projects of their own amounting to N578 billion.
