A woman, simply identified as Benedicta, and her five children have been found dead in their home in Egor Local Government Area, Edo state after allegedly being exposed to generator fumes overnight.

According to reports, the family head, Tochukwu Okwueze had put on the generator in their kitchen on Monday night and left it unattended to, leading to the prolonged spread of the toxic fumes.

Some neighbours are said to have raised the alarm yesterday and forced open the apartment door after observing that no member of the family had been sighted in the morning.

On forcing the door open, the neighbours were confronted with five corpses, including those of the family’s set of twins.

However, one member of the family, Tochukwu, who was still alive was then rushed to a hospital in Benin City, where he is said to still be in a coma.

Johnson Kokumo, the Commissioner of Police in Edo state, confirmed the incident, noting that expert investigators have been drafted to facilitate the inquiry.
