Host Russia has become the first side to make it to the round of 16 at the ongoing FIFA World Cup. The Russians thrashed Mo Sallah’s Egypt 3:1 on Tuesday to claim the maximum 6 points from two matches.
They had crushed Saudi Arabia 5:0 in the opening game of the tournament.
Meanwhile, Senegal snapped Africa’s losing streak at the Mundial, as the Terranga Lions held on for a 2:1 victory over Poland.
Until the Senegalese victory, every other African side in the competition had lost their opening, with Egypt needing a miracle to avoid catching the first flight out of Russia.
