The management of the National Emergency Management Agency, the body set up to manage disasters in Nigeria, has stated that there is no good reason for the current strike by its staff, as their demands have either been settled or are currently being addressed.
In a statement signed by the Head, Media and Public Relations, Sani Datti, the agency said an understanding was reached in September last year between the Staff Union and Management, paving way for the payment of outstanding overtime allowances.
Recall that the NEMA headquarters was shut last week by the local branch of the Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria owing to issues related to insufficient logistics, women separated from their families, and training needs and allowances.
According to Datti, NEMA’s management expects that the vehicular barricade at the headquarters will be removed, and another meeting arranged for Tuesday, June 19, 2018.
