The Screening and Appeal Committee of the All Progressive Congress, APC, says it has disqualified a total of 19 aspirants running for various offices in the upcoming national convention of the party. However, the committee has said a strict review of their cases will still be done.

Although the committee has received 16 petitions thus far from party members, Governor Rochas Okorocha, chairman of the Appeals Subcommittee, says no petition has been received against any aspirant for the offices of the national chairman and national secretary.

He, however, noted that there was one general petition demanding justice. Okorocha confirmed that his committee has started receiving petitions and has, so far, seven aspirants and is determined to give each one fair hearing, in order to have justice, equity, and fairness.

He said the committee would be submitting its report this Monday.

He also explained that the screening appeal is the final appeal and the next appeal will only come after the elections, which will be after the convention. He said, so far, there are 18 petitions and 19 people who did not make it through the screening level.

According to the Imo State governor, the committee has powers to disqualify people who do not make the screening appeal. If the appeal committee upholds the screening on the 19 persons, it means they have been disqualified from contesting for election
