Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike, a.k.a Evans has been abandoned by his lawyer, Olukoya Ogungbeje. Evans’ former lawyer said his step down on the case is as a result of what he described as “Personal reasons”.
In his letter dated June 13, Ogungbeje said he and his colleagues had experienced a lot of threats and, for the avoidance of doubt, they had fought thus far despite threats to their lives and his defence lawyers.
Ogungbeje also said he has no regrets whatsoever being part of the case while conducting criminal charges involving Mr Onwuamadike.
Quoting a section of the law, Ogungbeje said it would be penned in history that “An accused person being presumed innocent until the contrary is proved, no matter the public opinion and criticism”.
