FRSC hands over N27M recovered from crashed bus

The Federal Road Safety Corps in Ogun state has returned to its rightful owners, the sum of €65,000, which comes to about 27 million Naira, recovered from the wreckage of a bus that crashed along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on Tuesday.

The money was presented to the owners on Friday at the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital where they are receiving treatment by a team of officers led by the Ogun State FRSC Sector Commander, Corps Commander, Clement Oladele.

In a statement by the state’s corps Public Education Officer, Route Commander, Florence Okpe, said the bus was not only overloaded with luggage but was over-speeding when the accident occurred.

Eight persons according to him died in the accident while the others are receiving treatment.

Okpe said the FRSC has commenced legal action against owners of the commercial bus, Iyare Motors, for traffic violations, failure to install a speed limiter, overloading the vehicle with excessive luggage and failure to provide a passenger manifest.
