The Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, has urged Nigerians to intensify prayers for peace and unity as the nation inches closer to the 2019 elections while calling on the federal government in the spirit of Eid-ul-Fitr, to approve workers demand for a new minimum wage.

NLC President, Comrade Ayuba Wabba in a goodwill, urged every Muslim and all citizen to fully embrace the virtues of Eid-ul-Fitr.

The NLC further expressed the hope that the will of Nigerian voters would triumph in the upcoming election.

On its part, the Trade Union Congress (TUC) while urging Nigerians to imbibe the lessons of Ramadan noted that it goes beyond the spiritual aspect of fasting to include virtues like piety, personal sacrifice and self-denial which must be imbibed by all for the good of the country.

In a statement signed by its President, Comrade Bala Kaigama and Secretary General, Comrade Musa-Lawal Ozidi, the TUC implored Nigerians to allow the cardinal principles of our various religions reflect in all our dealings as it remains one definite way to ensure peace and unity in the country.
