The calls by the international community and rights groups for the seizure of the assets of South Sudanese leader, Salva Kiir and his opponent, Riek Machar have continued to gain momentum.

South Sudan rebels have added their voices to these groups demanding for the assets of these two leaders believed to have enriched themselves, and acquired estates and other landed property in Kenya and Uganda.

According to the NGO, known as the Sentry, which was founded by George Clooney and activist John Prendergast, it has in its possession recent reports indicating that there are high-end properties situated in Uganda and Kenya owned by South Sudanese nationals.

The US non-governmental organisation (NGO) and a government official urged Kenya and Uganda to freeze assets belonging to these warlords as a measure to discourage them from remotely instigating the lingering war in Africa’s youngest nation.

The South Sudan Liberation Movement-In Opposition today, released a statement affirming its support for calls to bring to book leaders who have looted the country in one way or the other.
