Pakistan’s most wanted militant and Taliban leader, Mullah Fazlullah, has been killed in a U.S.-Afghan airstrike in Afghanistan.

The spokesman for Afghan Defense Ministry, Mohammad Radmanish confirmed his death in the attack that was carried out at about 9.am local time.

The U.S. military had earlier said that it had carried out an attack at the Pakistani border, in the eastern Afghan Province of Kunar.

On that note, a US soldier also stated that it is believed to have been aimed at Fuzlullah who was eventually killed in the strike.

Fazlullah was known for carrying out deadly attacks including the shooting of Malala Yousafzai in 2012, and another violent school shooting in 2014 that killed 132 children and left scores injured.

Afghan President, Ashraf Ghani, had earlier announced a ceasefire that should last to June 20 but he, however, suggested today that it might be extended.
