The National Bureau of Statistics this evening released its transport watch report for May 2018 indicating a year-to-year increase of 32.71% in May and an increase in the average fare charge of 0.53% month-on-month.
The report covers bus trips between cities, instate route, charge per person, airfare charges, motorcycle per drop and waterway passage.
Highlighted in the report were some states with the highest bus trip fare: Abuja FCT was on the top of the list with N325.23, Cross River (N282.14) and Abia (N235.54). Ranking lowest on the list of states with the lowest bus journey fare within the city were Bauchi (N87.92), Anambra (N93.33) and Rivers (N96.36).
However, the average fare paid by commuters for intercity bus journey decreased by 0.05% month-on-month to N1,716.31 in May 2018 from N1,722.86 in April of 2018. It, however, increased by 14.89% year-on-year
