A draft of the Nigerian Code of Corporate Governance, NCCG, 2018 has been announced by the Financial Reporting Council, FRC.
Speaking at an event in Lagos on Wednesday, the executive secretary of FRC, Daniel Asapokhai, said the proposed code is the work of a 15-member committee set up to review the October 2016 National code that was suspended.
The new code covers all public companies, private companies that are holding companies of public companies, concessioned and/or privatised companies.
This includes regulated private companies whose files return to any other regulatory authority other than the Federal Inland Revenue Services and the Corporate Affairs Commission.
Meanwhile, the not-for-profit code remains suspended.
The FRC has embarked on public enlightenment campaign across the country for widespread acceptance of the draft.
