An American counterintelligence official has warned Americans travelling to Russia for the upcoming World Cup, that they should refrain from taking any electronic devices, as many are likely to be hacked by Russian criminals, and maybe even the Russian government.

William Evanina also said that all Americans were at risk regardless of their importance.

However, he emphasized that corporate and government officials were most at risk of hacking, and urged that if travellers desperately needed to take a device, then one other than their usual one would be best.

The allegations of hacking come after the on-going investigation into Russia’s involvement in the 2016 presidential elections, an allegation which Trump has denied.

It is being reported that U.S ally, Britain, has also warned its citizens of possible hacking as well as the England football team, which will be playing at the world cup.
