ARMY RESCUES HOSTAGES IN KADUNA

In a press release by the Headquarters of the Nigerian Army, the 8 hostages kidnapped by bandits along the Maganda-Sofo Birnin Gwari road have been rescued.

 

In the statement, Brigadier General Texas Chukwu, Director Army Public Relations, said the rescue operation took place on Saturday, June 9, 2018, as troops went on a clearance patrol along the Maganda- Funtua road.

 

Those rescued comprise of three men, two women and three children.

 

Items recovered from the bandits are; one red Golf car, one trailer and the clothes of one of the passengers in two pieces of luggage.

 

He also noted that some troops on patrol in Nachibi village had recovered a motorcycle from bandits who fled on seeing them.

 

Likewise, troops encountered bandits who were rustling cows at Maidaro village; three members of the vigilante sustained gunshot wounds while one person was killed in the encounter.

 

Brigadier Chukwu urged the public to be security conscious and endeavour to report any suspicious movements to law enforcement agents.
