Today’s plenary session at the House of Representatives became rowdy as the members disagreed over President Muhammadu Buhari’s declaration of June 12 as the new Democracy Day.

It is yet unknown the general consensus of the house, but Speaker of the House, Hon. Yakubu Dogara has tried to control the rowdiness and continue with the debate.

The issue of declaring June 12 a public holiday in Nigeria has always been a vexatious one, especially with the political elite.
